Happy Seventh Birthday Will

Happy Birthday William Allen Turano! Will, my heart beats stronger and literally faster because of you. As long as the universe and galaxies exist, as you would say, I am a changed person because I have you as my son.

It is those times and days that you run up to me and hand me a flower, or give me a note that you wrote yourself, that I know why God gave us children.

Life is rich when I see your eyes light up with excitement, or when you play with my hair as we lay in bed reading scriptures.

It is such a surprise to be with you, my son. Just when I think you might not be listening Will, you delight me with impressive details about something I have taught you, and then you even add comments to my statements that truly intrigue me.

Aunt Audrey said of you this week, " Will has a heart of gold." She is right. You tease, lick, poke and play like most little boys, but unlike many little boys, you pray with passion. You thank God each night for everything, and I mean everything! From water that your drink, from the pencil you write with, or the fact that you learned how to open a can that day....you do not forget to give Father in Heaven thanks.

Brooke said of you today Will, " Mommy, I really really love Will." I said, " I know." She said, " But, Mommy, he is my most favorite boy that I have ever met ever."

You are loved. You are cherished. You bring laughter into our home. You bring excitement to our journey, and most of all, you help us want to be better people because we want to the best for you.

Happy Happy Seventh Birthday Will!!!!!!

Going to Middle School

Brooke, You are so grown up and ready to go into Middle School in just a couple months!!!

Fifth Grade had it's ups and downs for you Brooke.
When things became challenging for you Brooke, you did something that shows who you are.

Over Valentine's Day your class was brought to the Special Needs classrooms to do some service.

That day after your visit to care for those less fortunate you came home and told me that when you were helping there, you had love for each of those children and that you felt the spirit with them.

Brooke, you visited the Special Needs classroom with a friend every single recess that you had with a friend for the next few months after that first day.

One day you made such an impact that one of the Special Needs Teachers came outside after school to my car, all to let me know how special that my daughter is that she helps the children and them, so much.

Eventually your friend Lali stopped going with you, but you continued to show your unselfishness and desire to give as you went each recess alone.

When I met one of the children's ( Ariel ) mothers of a special needs daughter, she began to cry to me and let me know how much it means to have any other child or person take interest in a child with such needs. She explained that most children will not take the time, or feel uncomfortable with children so different and lacking in speech.

I know you are such a special girl whom I am honored to be your Mother Brooke.

I am thankful that you truly try to learn from me and all of your teachers.

Congrats on going to Middle School Brooke!!!

We are all so proud of you and love you so much!

Love - Mommy

End of Kindergarten

Will had a great Kindergarten year with Mrs.Buck! On the last day of school, all the children in Will's class received a reward from Mrs.Buck which tells a little bit about each child.

Will received the " Curious Cat " award  because " Will is curious about the world around him."

When I saw this reward from his teacher, I knew she really knew Will, because that is exactly how I would describe Will as well.

Will,
You truly live in excitement about life, with anticipation to learn about even the deep things of life.

On Mother's Day, you asked me if we had a Heavenly Mother and what her name is? When you said your night time prayer that night, you prayed, " Thank you for our Heavenly Mother even though I don't know her name."

Will, you love to learn about nature, and you recently collected two live snails from the backyard.

You didn't just want to keep them, but you wanted to know how to take care of them. You made a little cage for these two snails, and each day after school you would come home, and change their cage by giving them fresh dirt, new dandelions, and fresh water.

You learned online that this was what snails eat, and you really made them your pets. At night in your prayer, you even prayed thank you for your snails.

Will, you showed the depth of your love for nature, and life when you came home from school one day and took your snail cage outside. When you came back in the house, the cage was empty.

I asked you what happened to the snails? You said, " I was not taking as good care of them as I should, and they would probably die soon, so I let them go. "

The fact that you were thinking of these little snails lives was so sweet. The fact that you wanted to know how to care for them showed me how you have become a child of our Heavenly Father who wants to learn, help and enjoy what Father gives us.

Your teacher wrote you a little note as I asked her to on the last day of school. She said to you Will:

" I am so proud of all that you have accomplished this year! You are going to do amazing things in the future, Have a great time in First Grade! Love, Mrs. Buck. "

Ask Your Device?

Will has some great advise for us all! While reading scriptures last night I asked Will what did we learn that we should do when we feel confused or need help? Will said, " Well, definitely do not ask your device! Because I asked Seri " How do you believe in Jesus? " and she didn't even know the answer is to pray! "
