Mr.Caring

 Will, 

You should be so proud of yourself! I am so proud of you and I didn't need the 5th Grade teachers of your school to give you an award of " Mr.Caring " , " Always looking out for the happiness of others " ; to know how caring and patient, long-suffering, thoughtful, forgiving, and kind that you are; but I am happy that you have another witness for yourself besides your Mother who always sees the best in you and loves you so much. 

In a day and at your age when so many of your peers are focused on " being cool ", or " fitting in " , you stay true to whom you are inside and that's apparent because you choose to be kind, over what others may think is " cool ". 

Will you don't like it when people rank themselves over others and you never rank yourself to be better than anyone else and I know this because you told me it's hard for you when others brag or say things to make themselves look better than another, and I have never once heard you say that you are better than anyone and if anything, you lack the ability to see your strengths, because that's just not what you are focused on; you are focused on others around you being happy at school and you are focused on taking the things you like to do and genuinely enjoying those things- like drawing, Japanese cartoon and culture of bravery, loyalty to friends, and defeating the bad guys that hurt or kill in these shows you like. 

I am so proud of who you are because you are meek, and even when you might get upset as all teens do- you always come over to me a few min. later with tears in your eyes and say, " Mom, I am sorry I got mad. " This is not something everyone does and I treasure this about you because every person has moments and times they are upset, but what matters is recognizing that their feeling of anger can change to see our own flaws and not the flaws of others, and then we can feel less upset and able to have charity; which you have! And is the most valuable, and without it we are nothing. 

Moroni 7: 43 And again, behold I say unto you that he cannot have faith and hope, save he shall be meek, and lowly of heart.

44 If so, his faith and hope is vain, for none is acceptable before God, save the meek and lowly in heart; and if a man be meek and lowly in heart, and confesses by the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, he must needs have charity; for if he have not charity he is nothing; wherefore he must needs have charity.

45 And charity suffereth long, and is kind

I can't believe you are the graduating class of 2029!!!! You are the future and when I see kids like you, I have more faith in the future of mankind.

Wonderful Will

 

Will, 

You are always the first one to come and help me with a problem! If you hear me scream in fright or cry in pain you come to my aid. You kill spiders for me sometimes, but you like to let them outside as your first choice. A couple weeks ago you heard me mention I left your/my ( Audrey surprised us with as a gift ) tortoises outside and it was a big storm . I had decided it was too much to worry about the turtles or maybe I had forgotten about them since there was a tornado watch happening? Well, you reminded me Will. You were willing to go look for them yourself and I told you no, I would go look for them. You went and got me an umbrella and waited for me by the back door asking over and over if I found them?

Will, I had almost given up but said a prayer in my mind that I was sorry I left the turtles out in a storm and that I knew He loves all His creatures and if it was possible that He could help me find them. As I turned around to leave the side of the house I had a thought not my own say, " Look one more time over there. " I walked to where my eyes were taken to and I had the thought, " put down the umbrella. " I thought, why? I said to myself I must need to use 2 hands. I then saw a tarp that I had already looked under and thought, " You need to use 2 hands and shake that. " I did as I was directed and under the tarp I had already lifted before at least twice were the answer to prayer I had found the tortoises and one upside down and probably would have been a sad day to find it dead if prayer was not answered and so I didn't have to call Aunt Audrey and tell her I let the turtles die in a storm because of you and Heavenly Father Will. 

That night when we said our bedtime prayer Brooke quickly asked to say the prayer and you said, " I want to say thank you we found the turtles so I will pray. " You are wonderful at recognizing and thanking God for what He has done Will. You said the prayer in thanks and I found you warming up and drying off the turtles in a towel before you finally went to sleep. 

We had a meeting with your school a few days ago; because of your Dyslexia we do that a couple times a year. Your teachers said you are well behaved and respectful! That is a lot to say in this day and time, since I know a lot of kids can be mean. Your teachers said you clean up your messes and keep everything together the way you found it. I was not surprised about that Will, because just when I think you have too many trinkets you could never know all you have, you start telling me I moved something of yours. You know where all your gifts people gave you are and you take care to put your Oculus right into the box how it came. 

Will you are so smart because when you go shopping with me you suddenly start telling me to put something I got back and you bring me the cheaper item which is the same but a different brand. Sometimes I tell you no, and you tell me how many dollars I would save and how the extra price isn't worth it! I don't know where you got this from because it's not a family trait that your Mom or Dad passed to you!? It shows you are aware, smart, and appreciative about what you have been given Will. You are very thoughtful and kind in that you will tell me not to buy something for you because it costs a lot in your mind. I am glad you think of this to think of others. You are quick to ask to make money to buy something Will, instead of just expecting things. I think this means in your own way, you like to feel your accomplishment. 

Even though you won't sleep in bed with me anymore (when your Dad is out or staying up), you still play with bubbles Will! I am glad you can still enjoy simple little things, and that you still like caterpillars, which we found and played with this Easter..

Brooke, 

I agree with you that without the power of the Priesthood on the earth our world would not be the same. In the Book of Mormon there was a time in which the people were only being spared because of the members of the church and their prayers. I sometimes pray that we will have more time, just like in this time in The Book of Mormon; more time to try and help build faith in Jesus Christ and share the gospel.

The Train to Christ

You are a valiant follower of Jesus Christ and this week you let me know of something that happened to you, which gave you the opportunity to share your faith in Jesus Christ! 

You were telling us at the dinner table about a girl whom came up to you and your friend and she asked if you wanted her to read your " Tarot cards ". You said, " No, thank you. " She then was telling you and your friend that she worships demons and you told her you are Christian and believe in Jesus Christ as your God. She then started telling you all kinds of things and even mentioned to you that you seem to have an energy about you that she doesn't know what it is and that " she was going to have to think about what it is? " Thankfully your teacher asked her to put away the Tarot cards and told need it makes her uncomfortable. 

I know that your confessing Jesus Christ before men, will have Jesus confess you before Heavenly Father. 

You are faced with many forces that are not of God at your school. These forces tell you all kinds of things that thwart the plan of Our Father and Jesus; they are meant to confuse you so that you lose faith that the pure love that only comes through Christ and the charity He teaches us, is real. 

Because you are faced with so much of these lies and messages from opposing forces of God and Jesus, you are also blessed with gifts of your time which are immeasurable in comparison. Those gifts can be seen in your spiritual wisdom, even at your young age. 

I know you have the gift of spiritual wisdom and great faith because of your comment to me after I asked you to read a new favorite talk of mine this week, about Joseph Smith ( The great man like lightening whom mens fires are ignited by ). 

You said the most important thing one could say and know after reading this  talk Brooke. You said  that you know the doctrine is true and that you can not deny the spirit. You will never go amiss if you keep remembering what Jesus said, " By their fruits he shall know them " , and since you are in part " my fruit " , I feel blessed that I am helping create " good fruits " and I am grateful to be your Mother. 

I do not think a fully aged adult could have given a better response to how to take anything that they might not understand; in that you only have to know the doctrines taught are truth and the spirit tells you by personal spiritual confirmation it is truth from God our Father. 

After you read the talk, these are the words in text you wrote to me: 

"I like the talk because Joseph smith really was revolutionary and he did things that were never done. He also has done lots of things that don't make sense to me but I know that I should trust in the spirit and everything doesn't have to make sense right now because I know the doctrine is true and I can trust in that
